The Laser Vago is a rugged asymmetric dinghy that can be sailed either single or double-handed, which makes it a useful boat at a club where crews come and go week to week. Jo Richards designed it in 2005, drawing on the same roto-moulding experience behind the Laser Pico.
The hull is rotationally moulded polyethylene in a foam sandwich rather than fibreglass, so it shrugs off the knocks of a busy dinghy park. A single chine and flared topsides help it plane early and stand up to its sail, and it carries an asymmetric spinnaker and a single trapeze — enough to be exciting downwind without demanding a skiff sailor to handle it.
