Privacy
What this site collects, what it doesn't, and how to ask us to remove something.
The short version
This site does not track you. There are no analytics, no advertising, no “like” buttons, and no cookies for ordinary visitors. If something on a page breaks, a report of the error is sent to Sentry so it can be fixed. Otherwise nothing you do here is shared with anyone.
What we don't do
- No analytics or visitor tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, and nothing is ever sold or passed to anyone for marketing.
- No requests to other companies. The typefaces, images and everything else are served from this site. Your browser is not asked to contact Google, Facebook or anyone else simply because you read a page here.
- No cookies for visitors, see Cookies below.
Cookies
Reading this site sets no cookies at all. There is nothing to accept or refuse, which is why you have not been asked.
Only club officers who sign in to publish results ever receive a cookie. Signing in is handled by Cloudflare Access, which emails the officer a one-time code and then sets:
- Name:
CF_Authorization(andCF_Sessionon Cloudflare's sign-in page) - Purpose: to keep an officer signed in, so they do not need a new code for every action.
- Contents: the officer's email address, an expiry time and Cloudflare's signature. The site uses the email to record which officer made each change.
- Lifetime: 24 hours, or until they log out, whichever is sooner.
- Set by: Cloudflare, on this site's behalf.
This is what the rules call a strictly necessary cookie: it does the thing the person just asked for and nothing besides, so it does not need consent, only this explanation. If the site ever gains anything that does need consent, such as visitor statistics or an embedded map, it will ask before setting it.
What is published about people
Two kinds of personal information appear on this site, both of which the club has published for years:
- Race results. Helms and crews, boat classes and sail numbers, taken from the scoring file produced after racing. Records of who has done race duty come from the same file. Sailors are shown by first name and surname initial; a full name is shown only for someone who has asked the club to show it.
- Photographs of members sailing, including junior members.
Committee members' names and roles are published so people know who to contact. Personal contact details are not published.
Asking us to remove something
If you would rather a photograph of you or your child was not on the site, want your full name shown in the results (or no longer shown), or want your name removed entirely from a results table, emailinfo@castlesemplesc.co.uk and we will take it down. You do not need to give a reason.
You can also ask what information the club holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or complain to theInformation Commissioner's Office if you are not happy with how we respond.
The technical bits
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host they process the internet address your browser connects from, in order to deliver pages and block attacks. We do not have access to that as a list of visitors and we do not analyse it.
- Race results are Sailwave files uploaded by the officer of the day and stored with Cloudflare. Deleted results are recoverable for 90 days and then removed.
- Error reports. When something on the site breaks, in your browser or on the server, a report is sent to Sentryso it can be fixed. It says what went wrong, which page you were on, your browser and device type, and the last few things the page did before the error, such as which links were clicked. It does not include your internet address, cookies, sign-in details or anything you typed. Reports from your browser go through this site rather than to Sentry directly, and Sentry keeps them in the EU for at most 90 days.
- The club calendar is read from the club's own Google Calendar by this site's server, not by your browser, so reading the calendar page tells Google nothing about you.
- Links to Facebook, X, class associations and sponsors are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those sites unless you click through, at which point their own privacy terms apply.
Changes
If this changes (if the club adds a contact form, online membership, or visitor statistics), this page will be updated to say so before the change goes live.
